奋进是武藏工业与星航株式会社最负盛名的专用研究平台。奋进携带了十几种不同的空间科研包，从用于识别jump point的高级远程扫描仪到用于近恒星冕研究的额外护盾防护。在其外部，奋进布满了hardpoint传感器；在其内部，主船舱的中心配备着可供广泛科学用途的大型研究实验室。奋进的主船舱可搭载不同的模块，允许作为希望级(预设包)悬浮医院的替换配置。该变体被地球联合帝国和其他组织用作战场支援，可使Marines和舰船飞行员更快地回到战场！当奋进搭载医疗模块时，其停靠舱可容纳一艘红弯刀救援舰。奋进甚至可以为邪恶势力提供服务， 因为它可以被重新模块化并搭载从麻醉品生产到黑市手术所需的一切。[1]

奋进可被分为三个部分。

  • 第一部分 - 探索者分离舱： 飞船的前端部分可以作为一艘单独的舰船与船身分离。探索者分离舱的特点是其囊括了除跳跃引擎之外的所有功能，其作用为替代工坊车间面对可能遭受致命损伤或潜在危险的风险作业。由于该分离舱容纳了船上大部分的货物储存空间，它也可以用来装卸货物或把货物运送到卸货区，工坊车间这部分则用以保持自身安全。
  • 第二部分 - 工坊车间： 这是奋进级的主要部分。它是完全模块化的产物，由六个连接点，一个三乘二网格所组成，为科研舱和医疗舱及各式模块提供服务。这些模块可以是任何东西，从标准试验室到机库，甚至是更独特的设计。当停留在轨道上时，工坊车间与驱动部可以复合组成一种名为“干燥实验室”的装置。
  • 第三阶段 - 驱动部： 这是奋进级主力舰发电机的所在地。该发电机为所有模块提供其需求的能源。这一部分同时装有奋进级的主推进器，但如果没有探索者分离舱挂载的推进装置那么该主推进器将无法被正常操作。

模块

工坊车间部分提供了基于“即插即用”网格概念的模块化区域，允许同时连接多达六个独立模块。模块通常成对安装。每个模块都会列出它需求占用的插槽数量，范围从2x1（两个空间，一个横跨）到3x2（全六个槽位）。对单一模块连接的限制，比如模块上限，将在下面作出描述。
