The Holiday Special 2017 was a pre-recorded video event organised by Cloud Imperium Games primarily to showcase the ongoing development of Squadron 42. Having been pulled from the CitizenCon 2016 presentation at the last minute, the "Vertical Slice" demo was given over a year of polish before finally appearing as the main feature of the Holiday Special 2017.[缺乏引證]
