The Lunch Button is a promised game-changing™ feature in 星际公民 announced during the 2016 anniversary pre-stream. It is supposed to punch above its weight™ class and comes with LTI. As of 2017-10, no updates on its fidelity™ are released by CIG.

• Human lunch will be provided to the player character regardless of location
• Contents of lunch will be dependent on the character's current reputation with the local lunch delivery service

The Lunch Button has gone through several editions and iteration before arriving at its current implementation. Originally conceived as a propaganda piece by Big Benny as a mandatory installation in 890 跃动s, the Lunch Button released to wild acclaim.

Although the Incendiary Lunch Scandal of 2924 resulted in the near-complete destruction of its public goodwill, Lunch Button Incorporated (LBI) rallied public opinion by providing devastated citizens of Vega free airdrops of lunch buttons after the 剜度氏族 attacks. Critics decry this move as "a calculated marketing strategy rather than actual charity", though none can deny its positive effect on the populace.

Controversies

As a feature of Star Citizen, the lunch button became a magnet for controversies; mostly surrounding its addition to the game mechanics beyond the original stretch goals. Prominent community members protest the addition of the button, stating: "The Lunch Button is feature creep!", insisting that CIG should focus on more important tasks "like pets and space plants!"
