The Hyperion Rally is a popular open-canopy race event for enthusiasts in the Empire founded in 2809. It is located in Shoel, Hyperion. In recent years, the event has been racked with controversy. Many come to experience the so called 'free rider' lifestyle that is often associated with piloting an open canopy craft. For every race or flying challenge that is scheduled, there are dozens of parties where attendees drink, dance, and in growing numbers, consume illegal narcotics. Although some locals want the event permanently canceled, the rally brings a large amount of credits to the locals.[1]

- Terry Flynn won 2nd place in a modified human Nox in the 5th Hyperion Rally in 2813.[2]
- Nyanāl Kli'thla became the first Xi'an to compete in Hyperion Rally in 2836, the 28th Hyperion Rally.[3]
- Shara Gadd won her third Hyperion Rally in a modified human Nox in 2921, the 112th Hyperion Rally.[4]
